The French are known for contributing many things to society. One of their most popular cultural contributions is fashion. From trends to designers, they’ve solidified themselves as a fashion authority for years and years to come. Today, they’ve influenced yet another trend that celebrities, fashionista’s, retailers and fashion houses are loving: the beret.
Beret’s are a fashion accessory commonly associated with French style. The accessory exudes sophistication, style and class. The typical American way of wearing the trend often involves preppy looks as seen in Clueless and Gossip Girl. Cher and Blair Waldorf are two of the most iconic film and tv personalities. They definitely knew how to rock a beret. The two of them made people fall in love with the preppy, school girl style.
If you’re not a preppy queen like Cher and Blair, there are other ways to rock this trend. The beret is a versatile accessory like any other hat and can be worn with different types of outfits:
Celebrities like Rita Ora, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Winnie Harlow, Gigi Hadid and Gabrielle Union have also been seen wearing this trend!
Since the beret trend has become so popular, several retail stores have released unique versions of the hat. Brands like Asos, Pretty Little Thing, Boohoo, Dolls Kill, Missguided and Revolve have created statement berets that will top off any outfit.
