The Luxe Lineup: BEYCHELLA - An Unapologetically Black Experience

Beyonce’s Coachella performance left everyone speechless. She slayed us, revived us then slayed us again over nearly two hours of pure Beyonce magic. Last night she graced us with her long awaited presence on the Coachella stage. She was supposed to perform at last years Coachella festival, but she got pregnant with her twins Rumi and Sir. Lady Gaga ended up filling in for her and no offense to Gaga, but she will NEVER be able to fill Queen Bey’s shoes. They never called Coachella, Gagachella. #BeyChella. The Queen showed us yet again how iconic she is with her Coachella performance.

Her entire performance was a tribute to African-American culture. It included an HBCU style band, HBCU band dancers and stepping choreography that paid homage to Black Greek Letter Organizations. She also sung Lift Every Voice & Sing, the black national anthem. It genuinely felt like an HBCU Homecoming. She did this performance for US.

And she didn’t stop there. Solange, Destiny’s Child and Jay Z were also there with her.

Now let’s get to the details of the outfits. These Beychella outfits were on point and of course they were customized for Queen Bey by Balmain.

For her first outfit her HBCU band serenaded the crowd as Bey sashayed down the runway in a Nefertiti inspired outfit. She lowkey hinted at this outfit last month when she released her Nefertiti merch.

And look at that entrance!

For her second look she had on a Black Greek Letter Organization inspired hoodie. She was the Dean that snatched everyone’s edges and people are trying to figure out how they can pledge Beta Delta Kappa.

Her third outfit was a mesh net shirt overtop of a leather leotard. It had a crest with Nefertiti, black panther, the black power fist and a bee.

The fourth look was a patent leather leotard with a matching puffer jacket

The final outfit was an army glamour look inspired by Destiny’s Child song and video, Survivor.

Watching Bey tear up the Coachella stage was so inspiring. Not only did she make history as the first African-American woman to headline Coachella, but she also created a space for our blackness to thrive. Her entire performance was a tribute to our culture and traditions. She showed that she wasn’t afraid of her blackness and that we shouldn’t be either. If she slayed this hard for Coachella Weekend 1, I wonder how she’ll  top herself for Weekend 2 and the OTR II tour.

What was your favorite moment from the performance?! Which outfit did she slay the hardest?! Comment down below!

xoxo
